Phytochemicals are health-protecting compounds of plant origin. They provide flavour and colour to edible fruits, plants, herbs and beverages. Health protecting effects of phytochemicals are due to anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antiviral, antibacterial, anticarcinogenic, and cellular repair properties.
