Her chapter on Hay was the first critical essay to note that Muldoon's long poem â?~Third Epistle to Timothyâ?T in Hay not only rhymes with two other long poems in that collection, â?~The Mud Roomâ?T and â?~The Bangle (Slight Return)â?T, but also that these poems in turn "rhyme" with the two long poems in Muldoon's previous collection, Annals of Chile (1994), â?~Yarrowâ?T and â?~Incantataâ?T: 'Each poem uses the same ninety rhyme words, and in the same order as they ?rst occur in â?~Yarrowâ?T, but in different verse forms, so that the repetition is undetectable unless you are looking for it.
