This five-volume work by Mandell Creighton (1843-1901) was first published between 1882 and 1894. Volume 4 (1887) focuses on the pontificate of Alexander VI and on his son Cesare Borgia. Creighton also describes the election of Julius II, and the wars in which the papacy subsequently became embroiled.
